Building Policies
Alcohol
- There must be a designated host who is at least twenty-one (21) years old present throughout the event. This host is responsible for ensuring that access to alcohol is limited to those with photo IDs assuring that they are of legal drinking age.
- Alcohol must be served by a non-student trained bartender who is at least twenty-one (21) years old. You must provide the name(s) of bartenders at least a week before the event. View university approved bartenders.
- A liquor license is required to sell alcohol.
- No clearly intoxicated person should be served alcohol.
- Non-alcoholic beverages and snacks must be readily available.
- In any advertisements, it must be clear that non-alcoholic beverages will be available for those who are not allowed or not interested in drinking.
- No more than one drink per person of legal drinking age per hour (max 3/person) should be supplied.
- The hosts are required to arrange and pay for additional housekeeping and security.
- Hosts must dispose of leftover alcohol containers.
- Hosts and attendees must follow Pennsylvania State Law and the University Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Damage Liability
The renter is responsible for any damage to the facility.
Dissertations
Students looking to book rooms for dissertations or final defenses should fill out the request form at least 2 weeks prior to the desired reservation date.

Penn GSE Poster Policy
Penn GSE values open expression. There are bulletin boards located at the 3700 Walnut Street building on the west side of each floor. Posters or messaging relevant to the GSE community should be posted there. To enable out of date items to be easily removed, please attach posters using push pins. Items that are out of date will be removed from bulletin boards. If you have need to post in a place other than the bulletin board, please seek permission from the Office of Student Services. In order to maintain an orderly appearance and to prevent damage, no materials should be taped to the doors or walls.
Smoking
Pursuant to City of Philadelphia Ordinance Bill # 050063-A, no smoking is allowed inside any University of Pennsylvania Facility and no smoking is allowed within twenty (20') feet of any entrance to any University of Pennsylvania Facility or within twenty five (25') of any entrance to a LEED certified facility. A CVN (code violation notice) violation 10-602d is $100. A fine can total $300.00.
